A muted palette and luxurious details added elegance and sophistication to Han and Can’s pantry and laundry spaces.
WA couple Han and Can delivered some strong spaces for the back of house. The girls took time to rework the floorplan to give the laundry outside access and allow more space for the butler’s pantry.
Using muted beiges and a touch of gold, Han and Can created a luxurious set of rooms, with all the amenities, such as a set of pull-out bins, a dishwasher and coffee machine.
Shaynna Blaze loved the stone benchtop and splashback with its rich texture and soft brown tones, which complemented the brown and white checkerboard floor tiles. The pantry included an appliance corner, housing a jug and toaster in open shelves and above closed cupboard doors.
The pantry area was separated by the laundry through one of the girls’ signature arches, but used the same materials and colours for a cohesive look.
The girls went all out with their garage design – designed with a monochromatic palette. A black ceiling was fitted with spectacular white hexagonal lighting tubes, offset by black walls and cabinetry and an epoxy black and white checkerboard floor. It was a hit with all three judges.
“This is really cool,” said Marty Fox.
Design tip
A checkerboard pattern is a classic style of flooring, but the monochromatic colour palette makes it both a bold choice and suitable for contemporary or heritage builds.
