Registering for Bunnings Rewards

1.2 You can register as a Member of Bunnings Rewards by creating a Bunnings Account via the Bunnings Website or the Bunnings App. If you already have a Bunnings Account, you will automatically be enrolled as a Member.

1.3 Bunnings Account holders will be issued with a Bunnings Card. Bunnings Cards are not credit, discount or charge cards.

1.4 It is free to join and be a Member of Bunnings Rewards.

Opting out of Bunnings Rewards

1.5 There is no obligation to participate in Bunnings Rewards and you can opt-out of Bunnings Rewards at any time. Opting-out of Bunnings Rewards does not impact your Bunnings Account.

1.6 You can opt-out of Bunnings Rewards by calling Bunnings Customer Support.

1.7 If you opt-out of Bunnings Rewards without closing your Bunnings Account, any Bunnings Rewards Points earned prior to opting-out will be forfeited immediately, but any Bunnings Rewards Dollars earned prior to opting-out will continue to be available to you until they expire in accordance with these T&Cs. You will not earn any further Bunnings Rewards Points or Bunnings Rewards Dollars after the date you opt-out.

1.8 If you close your Bunnings Account regardless of whether you have opted out of Bunnings Rewards or not, all Bunnings Rewards Points and Bunnings Rewards Dollars earned prior to closing your Bunnings Account will be forfeited immediately.

Responsibilities in relation to Membership

1.9 You must keep your personal details updated on your Bunnings Account. If you don’t keep your personal details up to date, we may not be able to provide you with your Member Benefits.

1.10 You must take all reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised use of, or access to, your Bunnings Card, your Bunnings Account and your Membership information (including your account password). Please treat your Bunnings Account password as confidential information. Bunnings accepts no liability for any unauthorised use of your Bunnings Account or Bunnings Card caused by your failure to protect your account credentials. You acknowledge that unauthorised access to your Bunnings Card, Bunnings Account and personal information may occur if you do not take these steps.

1.11 Any tax, liability, or duty incurred by you arising from your participation in Bunnings Rewards is your responsibility.

2. Bunnings Rewards Points

Earning Bunnings Rewards Points

2.1 Bunnings Rewards Points are what you earn on Eligible Spend when you shop in-store or online at Bunnings in New Zealand or at any participating event. You may also earn Bunnings Rewards Points through Bonus Rewards or other promotional offers that we or Bunnings Rewards Partners may offer from time to time. Bunnings Rewards Points will not be collected on No Earn Purchases listed in paragraph 2.8 below.

2.2 When shopping in-store at Bunnings, you must scan your Bunnings Card at the checkout before the transaction is finalised to earn Bunnings Rewards Points. If you do not scan your Bunnings Card before the transaction is finalised, you will not earn Bunnings Rewards Points on that shop.

2.3 When shopping online at Bunnings, you must ensure that you are logged into your Bunnings Account before completing your transaction to earn Bunnings Rewards Points. If you are not logged into your Bunnings Account before the online purchase is finalised, you will not earn Bunnings Rewards Points on that shop.

Rate of Collecting Bunnings Rewards Points

2.4 You will earn a minimum of 1 Bunnings Rewards Point for every $1 of Eligible Spend at Bunnings. Points are calculated at the item or product level, and you will only be entitled to earn Bunnings Rewards Points on those items which constitute Eligible Spend.

2.5 Where the Eligible Spend is not a whole number, the Bunnings Rewards Points you earn on an Eligible Spend will be rounded down to the nearest whole number.

2.6 Where you redeem Bunnings Rewards Dollars against a purchase, you will only earn Bunnings Rewards Points on the cash portion of the transaction (i.e. the portion of the spend that is not satisfied by redemption of the Bunnings Rewards Dollars).

No Earn Purchases

2.7 Some specific purchases are not eligible to earn Bunnings Rewards Points.

2.8 Unless advertised otherwise in the terms and conditions for a specific promotion, you will not earn Bunnings Rewards Points, or be able to use Bunnings Rewards Dollars, on any money you spend on gift cards, cash outs, services, installation or assembly services, the deposit and associated charges (for example, charges relating to damage or clearing) associated with hiring of products or services, transport charges, delivery fees, products ordered in for you that do not have a SKU/item number, Bunnings Marketplace items, goods or services purchased (through Bunnings) from a third party provider, donations, goods or services purchased on a trade account, and other items where the promotion or advertising of those products may be restricted at law ("No Earn Purchases").

2.9 We may add or remove items from the list of No Earn Purchases. Where that is the case, we will give you notice of these changes on the Bunnings Website.

3. Bunnings Rewards Dollars

Converting Bunnings Rewards Points to Bunnings Rewards Dollars

3.1 Once you have earned 500 Bunnings Rewards Points, these points will automatically be deducted from your balance and converted to $5 in Bunnings Rewards Dollars. This gives you $5 off a future purchase in-store at Bunnings. Bunnings Rewards Dollars can only be used for Eligible Spend. Bunnings Rewards Dollars are not redeemable for cash and have no monetary value except as a non-cash discount applied to an Eligible Spend.

3.2 We may change the redemption rate of Bunnings Rewards Dollars. Where we do so, we will give you notice of these changes on the Bunnings Website.

3.3 You may also earn Bunnings Rewards Dollars through Bonus Rewards or other promotional offers that we or Bunnings Rewards Partners may offer from time to time.

Claiming Bunnings Rewards Dollars

3.4 You can choose to enjoy money off your shop as soon as you have Bunnings Rewards Dollars available and you complete an Eligible Spend in-store at Bunnings. Online redemption of Bunnings Rewards Dollars is not currently available.

3.5 Bunnings Rewards Dollars will not automatically be deducted from your next Eligible Spend. To redeem your Bunnings Rewards Dollars for money off your shop, you need to scan your Bunnings Card and select Bunnings Rewards Dollars as a payment option on the payment screen when shopping in-store at Bunnings.

3.6 You will be prompted at the in-store checkout to decide whether or not you want to use your Bunnings Rewards Dollars, or whether you want to keep your Bunnings Rewards Dollars to use against a future Eligible Spend. Redemption of Bunnings Rewards Dollars is offered in fixed increments of $5 or $10 up to a maximum of $200 of Bunnings Rewards Dollars per transaction. You may choose the value of Bunnings Rewards Dollars, in the fixed increments listed above, that you wish to use against an Eligible Spend at Bunnings. Any unused Bunnings Rewards Dollars will remain in your account for future use.

For example, if you have $20 in Bunnings Rewards Dollars and your Eligible Spend is $65, you can choose to use $5 or $10 or $20 on that shop. If you select $10 and pay the remaining $55 by cash or card, you will retain the unused $10 Bunnings Rewards Dollars for a future Eligible Spend. You are not entitled to redeem or use the Bunnings Rewards Dollars in any other increment.

Maximum number of Bunnings Rewards Dollars

3.7 You cannot have more than $4,000 of Bunnings Rewards Dollars allocated to your Bunnings Card at any one time.

3.8 If you have $4,000 of Bunnings Rewards Dollars, you will continue to earn and accumulate Bunnings Rewards Points, but those points will not be converted to Bunnings Rewards Dollars until your total Bunnings Rewards Dollars balance reduces below the $4,000 threshold.

4.Bunnings Rewards Account Balance

4.1 Expiry of Bunnings Rewards Points and Bunnings Rewards Dollars

4.2 Bunnings Rewards Points will expire if there is no earn or redeem activity for a continuous period of 36 months from the date of your last transaction. Bunnings Rewards Dollars will expire 12 months from the date of issue.

4.3 This means your entire Bunnings Rewards Points balance will expire if you do not earn or redeem Bunnings Rewards Points or Bunnings Rewards Dollars for a continuous period of 36 months. Activity that resets this period includes earning Bunnings Rewards Points in-store or online or redeeming Bunnings Rewards Dollars in-store.

Bunnings Rewards account balance

4.4 You can check your Bunnings Rewards Points balance and the Bunnings Rewards Dollars in your account by logging into your Bunnings Account on the Bunnings Website or Bunnings App.

4.5 There may be a time delay before a change in your Bunnings Rewards Points balance or Bunnings Rewards Dollars is available to view and recent activity may not show in your Bunnings Account right away.

5. Bonus Rewards and Other Member Benefits

5.1 You may qualify for Bonus Rewards and other promotions, benefits and exclusive offers that we may offer or enable as part of Bunnings Rewards from time to time, including with our Bunnings Rewards Partners. Any Bunnings Rewards Points and Bunnings Rewards Dollars earned through Bonus Rewards are subject to these T&Cs and will be added to your Bunnings Rewards Points or Bunnings Rewards Dollars balance. For example, your balance will therefore include the Bunnings Rewards Points collected on Eligible Spend and Bunnings Rewards Points received through Bonus Rewards or any other promotions, benefits or offers we have provided.

5.2 The offer of Bonus Rewards is at the discretion of Bunnings from time to time and are exclusive, non-transferrable and personalised offers to additional Bunnings Rewards Points or Bunnings Rewards Dollars based on your individual Bunnings Account.

5.3 As at the date of these T&Cs, there are no Bunnings Rewards Partners. However, Bunnings reserves the right to add or remove Bunnings Rewards Partners from time to time, and Bunnings Rewards Partners’ terms may apply (which we will notify you of at that time).

5.4 Additional terms and conditions may apply to Bonus Rewards, promotional offers and additional Member Benefits which may be notified to Members on the relevant section of the Bunnings Website or in any Member communications. In the event of any inconsistency between these T&Cs and any promotional terms, the promotional terms will prevail to the extent of the inconsistency.

6. Returns, Refunds and Adjustments

6.1 If you return goods purchased at Bunnings or cancel any order for the purchase of goods at Bunnings, the Bunnings Rewards Points earned on the returned or cancelled item(s) will be reversed (including any Bonus Rewards or other Member Benefits that can be specifically attributable to a returned or cancelled item). An exchange of goods will be treated as a return of those goods, followed by a new purchase.

6.2 If you were issued Bunnings Rewards Dollars because of the Bunnings Rewards Points you earned on items that were subsequently returned or cancelled, the Bunnings Rewards Dollars will not be reduced or reversed. However, the number of Bunnings Rewards Points earned on the returned or cancelled item will be reversed from your balance. As a result you may have a negative balance and any future Bunnings Rewards Points earned will be applied towards this negative balance first.

6.3 If you used Bunnings Rewards Dollars on a transaction and one or more of the items purchased are subsequently returned, the Bunnings Rewards Dollars (or a pro-rated portion of those Bunnings Rewards Dollars) will be reinstated with a new 12-month expiry period from the date of reinstatement. The Bunnings Rewards Dollars cannot be refunded for cash.

7. Privacy

7.1 By registering as a Member, scanning your Bunnings Card, using or attempting to earn, access or use any Member Benefits, you acknowledge that Bunnings will collect, use and disclose your personal information in accordance with the Bunnings Privacy Policy ("Privacy Policy"), which forms part of these T&Cs.

7.2 You may access the Privacy Policy at Privacy Policy - Bunnings New Zealand.

7.3 Bunnings may communicate with you about Bunnings Rewards, including by sending you personalised offers and other additional benefits, as well as asking you for feedback via various channels and media (including by email, SMS, phone, mail, Bunnings App push notifications and by advertising on certain websites and social media). Bunnings may also send you other direct marketing communications in accordance with the Bunnings Privacy Policy. You may unsubscribe from these communications using the opt-out details provided or update your preferences in your Bunnings Account.

7.4 Opting out of promotional and marketing messages sent by Bunnings Rewards will opt you out of receiving all other promotional and marketing messages about, or from, Bunnings, its brands or programmes where you have signed up to them independently of your Membership.

7.5 There are, however, some messages that we must be able to send you. These include, for example, messages relating to your Membership such as changes to your Bunnings Account and Bunnings Rewards Points or Bunnings Rewards Dollars balances, important information relating to products and services you have purchased (like health and safety recall notices), forgotten passwords, updates to our T&Cs and Privacy Policy.

7.6 If you wish to update where we send the above communications to you, you can update your contact details by logging on to your Bunnings Account, or by contacting Bunnings Customer Support. Please note that if you update your contact details, it may take up to 5 business days before communications we send to you change from your previous contact details to your updated contact details.

8. Variation, Suspension and Termination of these T&Cs

8.1 These T&Cs, or Bunnings Rewards as a whole, may be varied, suspended or discontinued by Bunnings at any time.

8.2 In the event of any material variation, suspension or discontinuation of Bunnings Rewards, we will provide you with prior notice by email and by publication on the Bunnings Website no fewer than 7 days before the relevant change takes effect. During the period of such advance notice, you will have the opportunity to opt-out of your Membership or cancel your Bunnings Account should you not wish to accept the proposed variation or suspension. Unless otherwise stated, the updated T&Cs will take effect 7 days after their publication on the Bunnings Website.

8.3 Should you continue to use your Bunnings Card, or access or enjoy any Member Benefits, after the expiry of the advance notice period, you will be taken to have accepted the T&Cs as amended.

8.4 Bunnings has the right to transfer Members to any successor or replacement rewards programme operated by Bunnings or any of its group companies.

9. Membership Restrictions

9.1 Each individual may hold only one Bunnings Card, and Membership is not transferable to any other person.

9.2 Unless we inform you to the contrary, Bunnings Rewards Points, Bunnings Rewards Dollars and other Member Benefits are personal to you and may not be assigned or transferred to any third party.

9.3 Member Benefits may only be collected and used for personal and household use. Member Benefits may not be collected or applied in connection with any trade account or for a commercial purpose (which includes not-for-profit association purposes) or for any purchases of goods that could not reasonably be for personal and household use (either because of the nature or quantity of the goods, as determined at our discretion).

9.4 Bunnings Rewards Points and Bunnings Rewards Dollars are not redeemable for cash and have no monetary value except as a non-cash discount applied to an Eligible Spend.

9.5 Member Benefits are not exchangeable and no refund shall be given in respect of them.

10. Bunnings' Rights to Cancel or Suspend Membership

10.1 Bunnings may suspend or cancel your Membership if you (or someone using your Bunnings Card or Bunnings Account):

  • abuse, misuse or attempt to abuse or misuse your Membership, your Bunnings Card, Bunnings Rewards, any offers for Member Benefits or anything else associated with Bunnings or Bunnings Rewards;
  • act in a manner that contravenes these T&Cs;
  • earn Bunnings Rewards Points, Bunnings Rewards Dollars or other Member Benefits by fraudulent means;
  • allow another person to use or attempt to use your Bunnings Card, your Bunnings Account, Bunnings Rewards Dollars or any other Member Benefits;
  • become bankrupt or die; or
  • have not scanned your Bunnings Card, or logged into your Bunnings Account and transacted online, at any time during a continuous 36 month period.

10.2 In circumstances where your Membership is suspended by Bunnings pending an investigation, Bunnings Rewards Points will continue to accrue during the suspension period; however, you will not be entitled to redeem any Bunnings Rewards Dollars until the investigation has been concluded and your Membership reinstated.

10.3 Where Bunnings cancels your Membership in accordance with paragraph 10.1, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law (and without limiting any rights you may have under New Zealand law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993), Bunnings shall not be liable to you on any basis whatsoever, including in respect of any Bunnings Rewards Points or Bunnings Rewards Dollars remaining in your account at the date of cancellation.

10.4 Following the cancellation of your Membership (including where cancellation arises from your request to opt-out of Bunnings Rewards or cancel your Bunnings Online Account), Bunnings may retain your Membership information where reasonably necessary for legal, regulatory, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, audit, or record-keeping purposes. Bunnings may also use information that has been de-identified for analytics, reporting, and business improvement purposes.

10.5 You agree that, except to the extent that these T&Cs expressly provide otherwise, Bunnings does not need to notify you in advance, or give you any reasons, with regard to any action we take concerning your Membership.

11. Rights in Relation to Bunnings Rewards

11.1 Without limiting Bunnings' rights at paragraph 10, at any time and without prior notice, Bunnings reserves the right to:

  • refuse an application for Membership for any reason;
  • refuse to issue Bunnings Cards;
  • withdraw or cancel any Bunnings Cards or Member Benefits;
  • impose exclusions and conditions in respect of any Member Benefits — including, without limitation, qualifying spend thresholds and offer duration — and may vary such exclusions and conditions from time to time;
  • reverse any Member Benefits, including Bunnings Rewards Dollars or Bunnings Rewards Points that have been credited to a Bunnings Account. This includes circumstances where the allocation was made in error (whether arising from our mistake or otherwise), or where Member Benefits were accrued through the misuse of an offer or by fraudulent means;
  • monitor your purchase history for the purpose of verifying the legitimate accumulation of Member Benefits;
  • suspend or terminate your Membership where, acting reasonably, we believe it is necessary to do so, for example, you have breached these terms or harassed our staff; or
  • discontinue Bunnings Rewards.

12. Bunnings' Liability

12.1 You acknowledge and agree that there may be:

  • a delay in the issue of Member Benefits to you, or a failure to issue Member Benefits to you at all;
  • periods during which Bunnings Rewards is unavailable, whether for scheduled maintenance, unforeseen outages, or otherwise, and Bunnings makes no guarantee that Bunnings Rewards will be accessible at all times;
  • acts, errors or omissions on our part in the course of making Member Benefits available (including as contemplated by these T&Cs); or
  • the suspension or termination of Bunnings Rewards, including the ability for Members to accrue Bunnings Rewards Points and to redeem Bunnings Rewards Dollars.

12.2 Without limiting any rights to which you are entitled under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986, all liability that Bunnings may owe to you is excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law. Where such liability cannot be excluded (but without limiting any right to which you are entitled under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or Fair Trading Act 1986), Bunnings's liability to you shall in all cases be limited to the reinstatement of the number of Bunnings Rewards Points, Bunnings Rewards Dollars, or other Member Benefits that are the subject of the dispute.
