Project Overview

You’ll love the taste of home-grown strawberries. It’s a great activity the whole family will have fun doing. With plenty of sunlight, strawberries planted in a pot should give you a couple of years worth of fruit and even some runners that you can re-plant. We’ll show you how easy it is to grow strawberries in a few simple steps. Continue to step-by-step instructions

Step by Step Instructions

1 Step 1: Put the potting mix in the pot
2 Step 2: Plant and water the seedlings
3 Step 3: Fertilise the seedlings
4 Step 4: Choose a sunny spot and watch them grow
  • Step 1. Step 1: Put the potting mix in the pot

When growing strawberries, it’s important to choose the right potting mix. We’ve gone for a fruit and citrus potting mix. With your gardening gloves and dust mask on, carefully open the potting mix bag and pour it into the pot leaving space at the top. Press the potting mix down to get rid of any air pockets.
  • Step 2. Step 2: Plant and water the seedlings

Use a trowel to dig a shallow hole for each seedling you will plant. The hole should be deep enough to cover the roots while leaving the leaves exposed. Give each hole a light water. Then remove the seedling from its container and place it in the hole. Press down the soil around the roots.
  • Step 3. Step 3: Fertilise the seedlings

Seaweed solution helps the seedlings to develop their root system. Follow the instructions on the packaging, adding the right amount to the water in the watering can. Then water all of your seedlings.
  • Step 4. Step 4: Choose a sunny spot and watch them grow

Strawberries love lots of sun so place the pot in a location where they will get loads. Water the seedlings regularly and before you know it, you’ll be harvesting and enjoying fresh and tasty strawberries in no time.
