Lush and tactile travertine tiles installed from floor to ceiling created a luxurious space in Robby and Mat’s ensuite.
The boys took inspiration from their award-winning first bathroom, using similar tiles and the same aesthetic to create a coherent, consistent design. Mat described their aesthetic as “super luxe”.
The tile choices were the standout element of the bathroom, creating depth to the design through their rough texture and natural beauty.
Robby and Mat chose more than 2500 100mm x 100mm spectacular travertine tiles for the floor and walls, a huge investment from the budget. The tiles were installed from floor to ceiling in the wet area, with the texture giving the room depth and character.
The shower/wet area included a built-in shower seat (also tiled) and was separated from the rest of the bathroom with a half-nib tiled wall topped with fluted glass, which added privacy while still allowing the light to flow throughout the space.
A sleek dark timber wall-hung double vanity was the perfect complement for the tiles. The vanity was surrounded by vinyl grasscloth wallpaper, a great textural choice that combined the latest trend with practicality.
Marty Fox said the room had a sophisticated feel, calling it very international, “like a high-end hotel”.
Design tip
Choosing a wall-hung vanity allows you to install LED strip lighting underneath – a soft and non-intrusive lighting solution perfect for middle-of-the-night bathroom visits.
