An Easter garden arch is a simple way to add colour and personality to an outdoor space for the season. Styled with greenery, flowers and nostalgic decorations, it can become a welcoming focal point for gatherings or long weekends at home, especially as part of your easter decorations.

    1Prep the arch

    Use a garden arch that suits the space, whether it’s newly installed for the season or already part of the garden. If refreshing an older arch, give it a clean and decide whether to repaint it for a fresh look or keep a naturally weathered finish for a more rustic feel.

    2Add greenery as the base

    If the arch already has established climbers growing over it, gently guide and tidy them so they frame the shape neatly. If not, create an instant greenery base by weaving faux vines or garlands through the frame. Fresh cut foliage from the garden can also be used. The aim is to create a soft, leafy backdrop that decorations and flowers can be layered onto.

    3Add flowers

    Layer in fresh or faux flowers to soften the look. Small hanging baskets filled with blooms can be secured from the arch frame at different heights to add colour and dimension. Potted flowers can also be placed at the base of the arch to frame the entry.

    4Make D.I.Y. decorations

    For a traditional option, eggs can be carefully blown by making a small hole at each end and gently removing the contents. Rinse and allow the shells to dry fully before painting. If blowing eggs isn’t preferred, lightweight alternatives work just as well. Wooden or foam craft eggs can be painted in the same way, and are a little easier to store for future years.

    Paint the eggs in retro-inspired colours such as soft pastels, muted brights or simple stripe and dot patterns. Once dry, attach ribbon or twine with glue and hang them from the arch among the greenery and flowers.

    5Add Easter decorations

    Hang the painted eggs at varying heights throughout the arch to create movement and depth, using ribbon and cable ties. Mixing shorter and longer ribbon lengths helps the display feel more dynamic and less uniform. Combine a few larger feature pieces with smaller accents so the arch feels playful without becoming crowded. Details such as carrot decorations, bunny rabbit garden ornaments and anything else can also be added.

    6Decorate the surroundings

    Style the arch with baskets or tubs filled with flowers, decorative eggs or craft supplies for post-hunt activities. For a nostalgic feel, incorporate gingham ribbons, pastel bunting or simple handmade signs. Keeping the colour palette consistent across flowers, eggs and decorations helps the arch feel cohesive. The finished arch can act as a welcoming garden feature or lovely photo backdrop for Easter celebrations and Easter egg hunts. The arch can also be styled for any future celebrations in a similar way.
