First thing's first – take everything out of your wardrobe and lay it out on your bed to see what you've got. Now's a great opportunity to go through everything you own and make a pile for donating to charity – this is going to free up even more wardrobe space once you're all nice and organised. Also take the opportunity to make everything look pretty – replace any old, mismatched hangers, and give the empty space a good dust/vacuum and clean. Organise your clothes together by type – jackets in one pile, shirts in another and so on.
Once we cleaned everything out of our wardrobe, we slowly started adding things back in. We started with our shoes, purchasing a shoe rack from our local Bunnings, to display them and keep them organised and off the floor. We also added a portable hanger, these are particularly handy if you're renting as you can take them with you when you go.
These are the pieces that click together to create any wardrobe configuration of your choice. Choose the system/parts that best fit your space and start assembling to your wardrobe's specifications. To install, simply slide the hooks into the ends of the brackets, using the holes to fix them in place, then push up the lever to attach. How simple was that? There are baskets, racks and shelves all available in this range – almost anything you can dream up, they've got the parts for.
Pegboards are particularly good for hanging accessories. Just purchase some hooks and get creative.
You can effectively double your hanging space by adding extra rods below what's already there. Simply purchase more rods then mount either using a temporary 3M mounting grip or if you're using the ‘Clever Closet' system, click them into place.
Once you've got your drawers sorted and installed, grab some drawer organisers and sort everything within each drawer.
A great way to make everything look nice and neat is to have matching clothes hangers – make sure they're facing the right way for an even more satisfying aesthetic! When you're putting all your clothes back in, make sure you continue to group them together – this way you'll easily find what you're looking for.
You'll never have trouble finding that perfect outfit again with your fresh, clean and organised wardrobe.
