Various spray cleaning products under bench.

Overview

Keeping a tidy laundry will help de-clutter and organise your life. And what's NOT to love about that? Here's how to give yours a stylish overhaul.

Steps

1Clear everything out

First thing's first – take everything out of your cupboard to assess what you have. Group similar products together on your bench – these guys are about to get a new home!

2Organise your cleaning products

The best way to organise the contents of your laundry cupboards is to group everything together in baskets – that way you can just reach for whatever you need and its nice and easy. We have a great assortment of decorative baskets in store – just choose the ones that best suit your space.

3Hang wire baskets

To add extra useable storage to your laundry, you might want to consider hanging some wire baskets from the back of one of your cupboard doors. We sell a huge range, so you're sure to find one that fits your space.

4Hang your brooms and brushes

Free up even more storage space by hanging laundry supplies inside your cupboards. 3M have a great range of temporary hanging solutions – these are fantastic if you're renting. We used a 3M gripper to hang both our mop and broom off the wall – perfect for making sure paint doesn't peel off the walls when you unstick them.

5Purchase stackable boxes

For anything that doesn't quite ‘fit', grab a selection of stackable boxes – perfect for your bits and bobs. Just slide them to the top of your cupboards, set and forget!

6Create extra hanging space

Take advantage of your wall space by installing extra hanging rods. Tension rods are particularly great for this and ideal if you're renting as you won't need to screw anything to the wall – just slide out to adjust to the correct width. A game-changer! Over-The-Door hanging rods are also fantastic– we have a variety of different types. We chose matte black, which added a stylish, decorator touch to our room.

You need to be familiar with how to use equipment safely and follow the instructions that came with the equipment. Grave health hazards are linked to asbestos, which may be in homes built up to 1990. Health hazards may result from exposure to lead-based paints in older materials and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer. You can also use a simple test kit from Bunnings to indicate the presence of lead-based paint.
