How to make the Bluey bedroom window

Overview

Here’s a fun project for Bluey lovers to bring a piece of the Heelers' home into your place. Follow these easy steps to replicate the stained glass window from Bluey and Bingo’s bedroom using lightweight flute board and coloured cellophane. Safety tip: Always wear the appropriate safety equipment (safety glasses, gloves, and a mask, for example) and always follow the instructions for the product or equipment.

Steps

1Before you start your Bluey bedroom window

  • Cut the coloured cellophane into small squares about 10-20mm.
  • Set aside cellophane squares in four piles, sorted by colour.
  • Follow the instructions to download, print and cut out the Bluey window template.
  • Tape the printed pieces together to make the window template.

2Cut out the paper Bluey window template

Cut out the window template circle using scissors. Lay the window template on a cutting mat, then use a utility knife and ruler to cut out the window ‘glass’ sections.

3Trace the Bluey window template onto flute board

Lay the black flute board on the cutting mat and place the cut-out paper template on top. Trace around the outer circle and the internal window sections using a pencil.

4Cut out Bluey window from the flute board

Cut out the traced shape and inner sections from the flute board in the same way as before. This will be the final frame for your stained glass window.

5Position the self-adhesive film

Cut a piece of clear self-adhesive film slightly larger than your template (stick two pieces side by side to make a bigger sheet if needed). Place the self-adhesive film – sticky side up – over the paper window template.

Tip: You can tape down the corners of the self-adhesive film to keep it in place.

6Stick the cellophane onto the Bluey window

Attach the cellophane squares to the self-adhesive film, using the paper template as a guide and working in sections with one colour at a time. Press down firmly with your finger to secure.

7Finish the Bluey stained ‘glass’ window

Carefully position the black flute board window cutout onto the self-adhesive film to align with the template underneath. Press down firmly so it sticks securely to the film. Use scissors to trim the self-adhesive film around the window. Attach to the wall with removable picture hanging strips.

  • Keep scissors and utility knives out of reach of children.
