How to keep your glass pool fence safe

1Tools to install a glass pool fence

Before you install a glass pool fence, there are some specialist tools you need. A glass suction lifter will help you carry the glass much more easily. Always wear the right safety gear including non-slip gloves for carrying glass and safety glasses to protect your eyes. It's also a good idea to have rubber mats you can rest the glass panels on, so they don't get scratched or crack.

2Know your pool fence regulations

Drowning is the most common cause of preventable death of children aged 5 years and under. That's why there are strict laws regarding pool fences. These laws are there to protect the safety of young children by restricting their access to the swimming pool or spa. Make sure you know your local laws before building your pool fence.

3Keep the surroundings clear

Once your glass pool fence has been installed, check to make sure there are no objects near the fence. This is to stop children from being able to climb onto the object and get into the pool or spa area, without any adult supervision.

4Maintain the lock

Regularly check the lock on the pool fence door. Do this by opening the door and making sure that it self-closes and that the lock clicks into place.

5Tighten the post screws

As part of your regular pool fence maintenance routine, lift up the cover and check that all of the screws holding the posts to the decking are tight. If necessary, re-tighten them.

6Tighten the fence supports

Included in your glass pool fence installation kit is an Allen key. Use this key to regularly tighten the supports that hold the glass panels in place.
