Healthy Homes Standards Assessment

We can help make sure your rental property is compliant with Healthy Homes Standards.

The service

In 2019 the Residential Tenancies – Healthy Homes Standards were introduced to ensure rental properties meet a minimum standard for heating, insulation, ventilation, draught proofing, moisture ingress and drainage. All private rentals must comply with these standards within 90 days of a new or renewed tenancy.

Our Healthy Homes Assessment offers a full assessment, installation, and documentation service to help you make sure your rental property is compliant with legislation.

The Healthy Homes Assessment is available in Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty. This assessment is provided by our assessment partner G-Force.

Frequently asked questions

The assessor from G-Force will consider your property’s insulation, heating/cooling, ventilation, moisture ingress, drainage and draught stopping to ensure it's compliant. You’ll also receive a comprehensive report detailing your property’s compliance. If needed, you'll also be provided with a quote detailing what your home needs to be compliant with legislation, including the cost of installation.
Please email your details and an assessor from G-Force will contact you within 24 hours (on business days) to book in your assessment. Your information will be collected in accordance with our Privacy Policy and by sending your details via email, you agree to us sharing your information with our Healthy Homes Assessment partners for the purpose of providing this service to you.
The assessor from G-Force will manage all communication with tenants to arrange assessment and installation appointments. We aim to minimise the number of visits and the number of tradespeople that will visit the property to complete the work.
A full report is provided that shows which sections of the standard the property is compliant with, and which that it is not. Our reports contain clear indication of which areas of the property are compliant or not, making it easy for owners to understand what work is required. We provide photos of all non-compliant issues. Certificates of Compliance for each individual section of the HHS that the property is compliant with will be issued once we we complete the assessment, i.e. if the property is compliant for heating and ventilation when we assess, we will provide 2 compliance certificates. These certificates can be used as proof to MBIE that the property complies with the regulations.
Our assessor will discuss the work required with you and provide you with a quote to complete all the required work to make the property compliant. This includes supply and installation of all required products, and certificates of compliance are provided once this work is completed.
Our assessor will contact you within 24 hours to book your assessment. Assessments usually takes around an hour. You will receive your report and quote within 24 hours of the assessment being completed.
Generally installations will be completed within 15 business days of the quote being accepted.
