As of 1st July 2016 the New Zealand Government updated the Residential Tenancy Act to include rules for insulation and fire alarms in rental properties. Properties must be compliant by July 2019, however Bunnings can make it easy.
First we’ll send in a team of EECA approved auditors to conduct a Residential Tenancy Act Audit.This will let you know if your investments are currently compliant. You will then receive a document stating the extent of insulation as required by law. If your home is not compliant, you will be provided with a quote to get your insulation up to standard. The team will even map out your smoke alarms and organise more if required.
