With screens increasingly competing for kids’ attention, parents are looking for activities that encourage children to switch off devices and get hands-on. This February, families can look to Bunnings for a free and engaging way to keep kids entertained every weekend.

The cost of activities can be a barrier for parents and can limit how often they can involve their children in entertainment, a pressure intensified by post-Christmas financial strain.

Across every weekend in February, Bunnings will run fun, screen-free workshops in every store across New Zealand that kids can do while their parents’ shop, including:

  • Week 1 (Feb 7th – 8th) – Kiwi Bird
  • Week 2 (Feb 14th – 15th) – Squeegee Art
  • Week 3 (Feb 21st – 22nd) – Magic Garden
  • Week 4 (Feb 28th – 1st) – Wooden Robots

To help build excitement, Bunnings is also launching its new Kids DIY Passport Program. Designed to reward little D.I.Yers, kids can collect stamps at every workshop they complete, with milestone rewards at 4, 8 and 12 stamps. This will be an ongoing initiative, so kids can enjoy the rewards for their hard work throughout the year.

“The new Kids DIY Passport is about giving kids something to look forward to each time they come back into store, whether that’s collecting a stamp, trying a new activity or sharing a treat at our Bunnings Cafes. It’s those small moments that help turn creativity into a habit,” shared Michelle Walter, Bunnings Head of Community, Partnerships and Events.

Through activities like painting, moulding, gardening and decorating, the February workshops encourage kids to learn by doing.

Operating all throughout February, these workshops offer parents a stress-free solution for keeping kids entertained during the long weekend.

Bunnings Fun Free Feb workshops launched on Saturday 7 February 2026 at all stores around New Zealand.
