Bunnings is celebrating 25 years in New Zealand by doubling the impact of community fundraising, matching every dollar raised through sausage sizzles hosted at stores nationwide on Saturday 29 August.
For one day only, participating community groups will receive an additional dollar from Bunnings for every dollar raised through their sausage sizzle, helping local organisations generate even greater support for the causes and communities they serve.
Customers are encouraged to visit their local store, grab a sausage sizzle and be part of a milestone that celebrates not only Bunnings' history in New Zealand, but also the community partnerships that have helped shape the business over the past 25 years.
Since arriving in New Zealand in 2001, Bunnings has worked alongside thousands of community organisations, schools, sports clubs and charities through fundraising opportunities, partnerships and practical support.
Over the past five years alone, Bunnings New Zealand has contributed to and helped raise more than $13.6 million through more than 29,400 community activities across the country.
Many of those partnerships have spanned years and continue to support local initiatives making a positive difference in communities throughout Aotearoa.
Joel Williams, Regional Food Security Champion at The Salvation Army, said Bunnings' support has helped strengthen community programmes focused on food security and wellbeing.
"Our partnership with Bunnings has supported foodbanks, community gardens and local initiatives helping individuals and whānau facing hardship. We value their practical, grassroots support and look forward to continuing our work together."
Melissa Haines, General Manager of Bunnings New Zealand, said the 25-year milestone was an opportunity to reflect on the people and partnerships that have contributed to the company's journey.
"For 25 years, our team has helped Kiwis create homes they're proud of while supporting the communities we live and operate in.
"This milestone belongs to our team members, customers, suppliers and community partners, and we're proud to celebrate it by helping local groups raise even more for the causes that matter to them."
The anniversary is also a significant milestone for long-serving Bunnings team members who have helped grow the business in New Zealand.
One of those team members is Judith Grootjans, an Account Representative in the Trade Solutions team, who joined the business in 2001 when it operated as Benchmark.
After 25 years with the company, Grootjans says the people and opportunities have kept her inspired throughout her career.
"I've spent 25 years with Bunnings because it's a business that genuinely invests in its people. The opportunities I've had, the support I've received and the people I've worked alongside have made it an incredibly rewarding journey."
Customers can support local community groups by visiting their nearest Bunnings store on Saturday 29 August and purchasing a sausage sizzle.
With Bunnings matching every dollar raised on the day, every sausage sizzle purchased will help participating organisations generate even more funding for their important work in local communities.
