How to install new wardrobe handles

Overview

It’s easy to radically alter the entire look and feel of your bedroom, simply by changing your wardrobe handles. Honestly – it couldn’t be simpler!

Steps

1Gather your tools and materials

Below are all of the tools and materials you'll need to complete this project.

2Remove the old handles

This is pretty simple – just unscrew the existing wardrobe handle, then use a screwdriver to unfasten the part that attaches to the wardrobe. If it's too tight, use your drill with a Phillips head drill bit in reverse drill mode.

3Fill any holes

If the holes left after you unscrew your old handles don't match where you want to put your new ones you're going to need to fill these in. Use Spakfilla – it's a great product for this kind of job as it dries really fast.

4Mark up where you want your handles to go

To make sure your handles are installed straight, you'll want to use a square. Use an pencil to mark up where you want your handles to go.

5Pre-drill your hole

Choose a drill bit that is a similar size to your screw – pre-drilling your hole will make life a whole lot easier. Pop some safety glasses on for this bit.

6Screw in your handles

This is the fun part – watching the transformation unfold! Pop your screws through the drill holes and place a washer on each side of the door to protect it from scratches. Place the handle on and tighten the screws. To make sure the handle is nice and secure, finish tightening with the drill.

7Sand your Spakfilla

 Once your Spakfilla is nice and dry, finish it off by giving it a light sand – wear a dust mask for this.

8Admire your handiwork!
