Modern house decorated with Christmas lights with a light up reindeer in the front yard.
Add that extra special touch this Christmas and light up your home with festive lighting.

Add some sparkle with fairy lights

Solar fairy lights come in a range of fun shapes, with colour changing and flashing functions, so you can create a different look every time you entertain.

Run them across your roof, pergola or fence. Make sure you use plastic clips or hooks when attaching your lights, rather than pins, nails or staples.

Don't forget to place the solar panels in a sunny spot. A fully charged battery can give you up to eight hours of light.

Brighten up your garden

You can give your garden a Christmas look this year with festive LED lights or rope lights. They're cool to touch, waterproof and easy to wrap around trees, hedges and garden beds. With multi-colours and remote control operation, they’ll make your garden look amazing.

Light the way for Santa

If you really want to make a big impression, we have a fantastic range of inflatable decorations with all sorts of fun, festive designs. The kids will love it! They also come with LED lights inside so you can make them a feature at night. Easy to inflate with built-in fans, they also come with stakes and guy ropes so they won’t blow away.

Make your decorations larger than life

Solar-powered festive lights are a great way to create a welcoming pathway for family and friends, or use them to highlight your garden beds. You can really set the scene in your front yard with our huge selection of solar options.

Packing up for next year

Here’s a simple way to pack up fairy lights to keep them tangle-free and easy to put up next year:

  1. Grab a cardboard roll from an old cling wrap or aluminium foil dispenser and cut a 2cm slit into each end.
  2. Lay your lights on the ground, hook one end into the slit and start winding them onto your roll. When you get to the last light, hook it into the slit.
  3. Wrap the rolled up lights in bubble wrap and store them in a shoebox.

Choose your lights

From inflatables to fairy lights, rope lights and novelty lights, you’ll find a huge range of fun lighting options at your local Bunnings and everything you need to hang and store them when it’s time to pack them away.

Health & Safety

Please make sure you use all equipment appropriately and safely when following the advice in these D.I.Y. videos. You need to be familiar with how to use equipment safely and follow the instructions that came with the equipment. If you are unsure, you may feel it is safest to consult an expert, such as the manufacturer or an expert Bunnings Team Member.

Grave health hazards are linked to asbestos, which may be in homes built up to 1990. Health hazards may result from exposure to lead-based paints in older materials and copper chromium arsenic (CCA) treated timber. For information on the dangers of asbestos, lead-based paint and CCA treated timber and tips for dealing with these materials contact your local council's Environmental Health Officer. You can also use a simple test kit from Bunnings to indicate the presence of lead-based paint.
