How to install a window catch
Overview
Putting a catch on your window is a quick and affordable way to help hold it tightly on the frame. We'll take you through what you need to know to do the job. You'll learn where to put your catch and how to mount it properly.

Steps
Install the window catch handle on the window
Place the handle of the catch on the timber, halfway up the window. Then mark out your screw holes with a pencil. Now drill pilot holes through your marks, taking care not to drill too deep. Finish this step by screwing the handle into place.
Install the window catch lip on the frame
Connect the two parts of the window catch together with the window firmly closed. Mark out on the window frame where the first screw hole of the lip will sit. Then open the window and drill a pilot hole into the frame. Now drive the first screw in, line the lip up straight, drill the second pilot hole and screw the latch firmly into place. To finish, close the window and check the latch is working properly.
