Backing Local

Supporting Touch communities across the country

A lady and a gentleman outside.
Since 2018, Bunnings has been the proud Principal Partner of Touch NZ. We have worked shoulder-to-shoulder to grow New Zealand’s quintessential, social summer sport for the Touch community.

Each season, Bunnings supports the Touch community at the three national marquee tournaments.

  • Bunnings National Youth Touch Championship
  • Bunnings National Masters Touch Championship
  • Bunnings National Touch Championship

Bunnings also supports the development of new coaches across the motu as Major Partner of the Online Coaching Course and sponsor of coaching equipment to successful Online Coaching Course participants. Since 2018, Bunnings has supported more than 2,800 new coaches who are critical to growing a fun, inclusive and balanced game for tamariki and rangitahi.

Our committment to making a positive difference in the Touch community is just a small way Bunnings can lend a hand to the communities in which we operate.

Bunnings Home Ground Heroes

Home Ground Heroes Logo

Bunnings Home Ground Heroes acknowledges the unsung heroes in the Touch community who go above the call of duty to enable players and the sport to thrive. As part of Bunnings partnership with Touch NZ, we are excited to celebrate these local heroes who make a meaningful difference to the Touch community.

Congratulations to our 2024 Bunnings Home Ground Heroes

  • Jemma Taikato, Nelson
  • Diana Manu, Kapiti Horowhenua
  • Steve Hudson, Rotorua
  • Lesley Woodhouse, North Harbour
  • Dennis Thompson, Southland

This year, our five deserving heroes have been selected from 196 nominations from across Aotearoa, demonstrating the number of unsung heroes who show an extra level of commitment and effort in the Touch community. Each winner has been awarded $5,000 to reinvest back into their Touch modules and community.
