This hardy evergreen shrub, commonly known as the Portuguese Laurel, has distinctive, dark green leathery foliage. White flowers appear in late spring and summer. Hardy in most climatic situations and tolerant to dry conditions but prefers regular water and fertile soil, in a sunny to partly shaded site. The dense foliage is perfect for hedges and topiaries and is easily shaped to suit most garden styles. Also suitable as a backdrop to garden beds and as a screening shrub.
