How to warm up your outdoor space

There’s no doubt alfresco entertaining is an Aussie tradition, even in the colder months of winter. With a range of stylish outdoor heating solutions to add warmth and ambience, it’s easy to create the perfect winter sanctuary in your backyard.

An outdoor gas heater in a backyard

The big picture

If yours is a chilly climate, then adding more than one outdoor heater  will be the best way to keep everyone snug and feeling comfortable. Ideally what works best is introducing a combination of gas heaters and classic wood fires.

With portability on their side gas heaters are ideal for decks and patios. There are a range of styles available in Bunnings, from free standing options which will usually warm a larger area, to table top heaters for the perfect dining centrepiece.

When positioning your outdoor heater, always be sure there is a safe distance between the roof and other combustibles and your appliance.

A firepit in an outdoor entertaining area

Ignite the ambience with a firepit

Firepits are right on-trend, create the perfect outdoor entertainment  space with a beautiful ambience and they are hard to beat for direct 360 degree heat.

There’s nothing more evocative than flickering flames from the open fire, which encourage family and friends to gather around and bask in the cosy glow. The smoky atmosphere is a fitting reminder of the beauty of being in the great outdoors.

Fiammetta has a range of stylish firepits that are available in black, rustic and concrete finishes. Think decor and select one to suit your home colour scheme and architecture.

The ever-popular chimeneas are defined as a front loading fireplace. With the advantage of retaining heat and providing a more contained fire, chimeneas have a chimney and flu designed to divert smoke from your gathering

To really create the ultimate conversation corner and a focal point to your outdoor living space, accentuate your space with some outdoor furniture such as a couch or two, add some colourful cushions  and some potted greenery. Depending on your climate and décor, try palms, bamboo or fiddle leaf figs.
