How to make dyed Easter eggs

These dyed Easter eggs make fantastic table decorations. They’re simple to make, just follow our step-by-step guide.

What you need

Food colouring

Small metal bowls

White vinegar

Kitchen tongs

Hard-boiled eggs

Egg carton

 

1. Choose your colours

Decide how many colours to use and set out a bowl for each one. Pour two cups of hot water into each bowl, then add one teaspoon of vinegar and 10 drops of food colouring. 

2. Add eggs to colour solution

Using tongs, gently lower eggs into the bowls, ensuring they are submerged in the coloured solution.

Tip: Keep the eggs in the solution for varying amounts of time to create darker or lighter stain effects.

3. Remove eggs and allow to dry

After desired time, remove dyed eggs with tongs and place in an egg carton to dry.

Safety Tip

Always supervise littlies when projects require the use of scissors, sharp items or hot water.
