tools and materials required to make a terracotta pot person

1. Make the body

First up, make the body by taking two pots and gluing them together. Apply the glue to the top part of each pot. Use the glue gun for this, but you might need a grown up to help with this step. (If you don’t have a glue gun. PVA glue will work just as well.) Hold the surfaces firmly together until the glue has set.

2. Paint pots

Give your pot people some character. Use different coloured paint sticks to create different parts of the body. If you don't have paint sticks, you can use regular craft paint. Try blending colours together.

3. Create a face

Give your pot person some personality. Make a face, by gluing on some googly eyes. Add a nose and a mouth. Then get creative with some hair.  We used some macramé rope and unravelled it so that it looks like hair. But you can use anything you like. Glue it into place.

4. Dress it up

Give your pot person a stylish twist. Use the pot saucer to create a hat. We painted ours purple and then glued it on and added a feather to really top it off.
