Tile floors are a low-maintenance flooring option, but every now and then, they need some extra attention. If that time has come, it’s time to break out the mop and tile cleaner for a 10-minute refresh. Your floors will be good as new in no time!

Tools and materials

Indoor broom

Microfibre cleaning cloths

Mop and bucket 

Tile and grout cleaner (floors)

Tile-suitable scourer 

How to clean tile floors

1. Remove any surface dirt and dust

Sweep the floor tiles, making sure there’s no residual dust and dirt sitting on the surface.

2. Add tile cleaner

Add the tile cleaner to your bucket with the water as per the instructions. Apply and then leave to sit for 1–2 minutes.

3. Wash

Mop with clean water to rinse thoroughly. Allow to dry naturally or use a cloth to wipe your tiles dry to prevent streaks.

4. Scrub stubborn areas

For stubborn grime, apply again, leave for 3–5 minutes. If required, scrub at the grout using a tile-suitable scourer, then rinse thoroughly again with a mop.
