  • Step 1. Consider your budget

Once you know how much you have to spend, you’ll know whether you need to rejuvenate or renovate your bathroom.

  • Step 2. Bathroom Rejuvenation

Rejuvenating your bathroom is the most cost-effective way to give your bathroom a fresh look. Especially if you work with the existing layout and don’t moving the plumbing or electrical. Cosmetic changes such as updating door handles or painting tiles are a great way to make a difference while working with the assets you have.
  • Step 3. Planning your rejuvenation

First, work out what you can repurpose from what you’ve already got and what needs to be replaced altogether. Cleaning up or re-grouting and re-caulking, adding handles and painting over tiles is a less expensive way to change the look of your bathroom.
  • Step 4. Head in-store

Your local Bunnings has a range of bathroom displays, ideas and inspiration. Once you’ve had a look around, choose the colour and styling scheme that suits you best. Remember, you don’t have to spend a lot to make a big difference.

  • Step 5. Bathroom Renovation

If you've outgrown your current bathroom, its age or condition means it needs replacing or you want to change the layout, you’ll need to consider a complete renovation. Please note, this will require the use of professional trades when it comes to disconnecting, relocating and reconnecting plumbing and electrical services.

You may also need a builder if your renovation includes structural changes. Remember to find out if any building permits are required or if any council regulations exist before you change the layout.

  • Step 6. Plan your renovation

There are a number of factors you need to consider when planning your bathroom renovation. Your budget being top of that list. Determine your limit and stick to it. Next, gather some inspiration and talk it through with an expert at your local Bunnings Warehouse.

Inform your trades where your new bathroom and fittings are going to be, so they can ‘rough-in’ the required services for the new layout.

  • Step 7. The fun stuff

Now it’s time to head in-store to select your fixtures and fittings. These will include your new vanity, tiles, basin and bath, tapware, shower screens, lighting, heating, mirrors and ventilation.

You can match your selections with accessories such as towel rails and of course, don’t forget the all-important toilet roll holder!
  • Step 8. Installing a new bathroom

The first part of installing a new bathroom is removing the old bathroom. Just make sure you get your services disconnected by licensed tradespeople before you begin. The next step is taking the walls back to studs so that your trades can rough-in the new services.

Waterproofing and fall are two of the most important things to get right in a bathroom renovation, so leave that to the experts. Then you can prep and paint the walls not being tiled.

Next, tile your floors and walls, install your fixtures (including your shower screen), grout any tiles and silicone up any wet area joins. When you’re ready, get your trades to reconnect your services before installing your accessories, cleaning up and styling your bathroom.
  • Step 9. Enjoy the fruits of your labour

Whether you’re contemplating a few simple changes to rejuvenate your bathroom, or a full renovation that transforms your home, we can help turn your dreams into reality.
