Marcus Watson

Male smiling.

Marcus Watson is an artist and graphic designer based in Auckland. His work explores both modern and traditional approaches to typography and illustration. Never content with the boundaries of one style, he constantly evolves his work into visually compelling pieces, in a wide variety of mediums.

"My piece is about home life and the small things within that bring us joy. From nurturing our house plants, to decorating the walls and shelves of these spaces we call our own." "With all of us having spent so much time indoors these last few years, I wanted to create an artwork celebrating the places that have acted as our safe havens during these trying times.”

Dulux colours used: Flat Point, Huntly, Paihia, One Tree Hill and Devils Staircase.

Mural location: 160 Richmond Road, Grey Lynn.

Pippa and Zoë

Two females smiling.

Wellington artists Pip and Zoë are an award-winning duo with a love for the outdoors, and over 10 years illustration experience combined! They are heavily inspired by the organic, flowing lines and intricate detail of nature, and strive to bring these botanical details into their work. The pair can be found painting murals, creating illustrations, art commissions and more for clients in their studio in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa - or out tramping in their local bush!

"Our piece aims to encourage others to create a “secret garden” of their own, focusing on the organic ebb and flow that can be found in nature. Through whimsical elements, pushing our color palette and small hidden moments we hope to create inspiration and intrigue."

Dulux colours used: Kenepuru Sound, Kawau Island, Herbertville Beach, The Viaduct, Ōtama Beach, Pigeon Bay, Russell, Parihaka, Colombo Street, Taradale, Waitarēre Beach, Te Awamutu, Rotoura, Paihia, Karaka Bay, Lyall Bay, Mansion House Bay, Magenta Limit and Southern Alps.

Mural location: Glover Park, Wellington.

Harriet Leonard

Female smiling.

Harriet Leonard is a contemporary abstract artist based in Christchurch. Her work explores the use of fluid shapes and bright colour in the hopes of eliciting a positive response within the viewer. In using colour and shape as a tool, she negotiates with space to create a painting filled with life and joy that will leave you feeling better than before.

"I grew up coming to Bunnings as a little girl with my mum. Once through the doors, she'd walk towards the garden section and I would make my way to the paint aisle so I could marvel at the array of swatches. Walking along on my tippy toes, picking out my favorite shades soon to show my mum what I'd found. When I was contacted to paint this mural, these memories immediately came back to me and so I was inspired to create a painting driven by childlike optimism, celebrating colour. I want this piece to inspire people to have fun and experiment with colour, whether it be by injecting some more colour into your wardrobe, buying that bright lipstick you've always wanted or even painting a fun wall in your house!"

Dulux colours used: Moorhouse St, Karaka Bay, Rotorua, Waipawa, High St, New Market, Te Atatū, Devil's Staircase, Shotover St, Kārawa Island, Devil's Pool, Manapōuri, Kellands Point, Hurstmere Road, Herbertville Beach, Fox Glacier, Mārahau and Southern Alps.

Mural location: Lichfield Street, Christchurch.
