 Flowers to Sow

Lift and divide overgrown and root bound plants such as dahlias, cannas and phlox.

 Vegies to Sow
Sweet Red Onion is very popular. A number one choice for salad and sandwiches. Plant in a sunny spot and use raising mix.
 June Pruning
Prune fruit trees on dry days to prevent infection. Apply Yates Bacseal to cover pruning cuts. Prune hydrangeas.  Cut back to strong growth and a pair of buds low down on the stem.
 Fertilising in June
Feed winter vegetables to keep them growing strongly. Add lime to build up soil structure along with peat and compost. For poorly drained soils, raised garden beds are ideal.
 June Projects

Spray deciduous fruit trees with Yates Champ DP or Copper Oxychloride and Conqueror Oil for a general clean up. Use Yates Lime Sulphur for a general winter cleanup.

Product of the Month

Blitzem Pellets

Sprinkle Blitzem pellets among clumps of foliage to protect young plants from snails & slugs.

Seed of the Month

Spinach Baby Leaf

Sow the seeds direct where they’re to grow in asunny or lightly shaded spot. Add some Yates Blood & Bone tothe soil before planting. Spinach Baby Leaf tastes best when the leaves are young and tender so pick them as soon as they’re big enough to use. This will make room for more leaves to grow.

Water Saving Tip

When purchasing new plants and pots for a winter plant-up, consider using Yates Tuscan Edge Self Watering Planters. They have a large sized water reservoir at the base, and will help to conserve water over the summer months. Great for indoors and out.
